Newbie looking for help.....notanovice?
I am just starting to look into growing for the first time. I really am not sure how to start. I have nothing yet.....not lights....nothing. I do have some seeds. But I was also wondering if it is safe to get seeds off the net? I really dont know how to get started here!
But I am very excited to give it a try!!!! Hope someone out there can help me!
Thanks

This site is a pretty good one to start getting info on the basics of growing.
http://www.overgrow.com/growfaq/
I would also recommend getting a book or two to read. It really does make a difference in my opinion. A personal recommendation is The Cannabis Grow Bible by Greg Green. I read that and it has helped so much.

there is a plethera of information out there, and many good people here that know their stuff. bag seeds are a good start for first time growers, once you get a harvest out of em, you should have a better idea, and the knowledge to dish out the dollars for seeds. unless you have a green thumb, i would start my first grow in clean potting soil, with compact floros for light.
germinate seeds in distilled water, in a glass, warm, dark, area. once they pop, put em in the pots with moist(not wet) soil.
once they sprout out of the soil, put the floro lights to em, you can place the light almost touching, that will keep them from stretching.
that should get you started.
no need to get into all the expeses of big lights and nutrient solutions until you get a bit of knowledge about this subject.
but if you`re bent on buying seeds, get yourself some Northern Lights#5, they pretty much grow themselves, and are easy to maintain
i`ll be more than happy to help you by answering any of your questions to the best of my knowledge

So how much should the plants be watered? Just enough to keep the soil moist?

once they have started growing, only water when top of soil feels dry to the touch.
make sure not to over water, and that the containers have good drainage.
and yes, moist, not soaking wet

Once again, Notanovice gives very good advice. Grow the 1st crop in soil and feel your way thru it.
Then you should go to hydro. You can go from seed to bud in 90 days and have kickass weed. You can also root your soil grown plants into rockwool and start hydro or clone into rockwool.
