I don't know about sweat lodges, but I do know from using rocks to contain camp fires that you shouldn't heat any rock that could have water soaked into the pores to a high temp, because the water inside can vaporize and explode the rock. That means rocks from any body of water are out, and in general I steer clear of a rock that is on the shore of a body of water. You might be ok with some of these rocks, depending on how porous they are, but I had a rock that seemed to be non-porous explode once.
SomeDude Reviewed by SomeDude on . Know anything about sweat lodges? Does any one know what kind of rocks to use (heat) for a sweat lodge? I heard that river rock is good and I want to find something that won't explode. Thanks for your help. Rating: 5
