mylar is the best reflective surface but is a bitch to install and even more of a bitch to keep clean. it also can cause mold to grow between it and the wall from lack of circulating air. and unless it's kept clean it's no better than flat white painted walls, which are next best and most often used by growers for its easy application and ease with cleaning. aluminum foil might look good to newer growers but is actually a waste of foil and time as it soaks up needed spectrum and creates hot-spots. mirrors are the absolute worst to use...the reflect very little beyond 'white light'.
just stick with 'the book' and you'll have a harvest worthy of your time and effort.

I use foylon (or alumaglo?) in my cabinet. It works great! It looks like duct tape in that it has all those little strings that reinforce the material in the middle, with a shiny reflective side and a non-reflective side. It reflects about the same as mylar and it has much better light dispersion than mylar. Only problem is it might be a little expensive (which isn't a problem in a small cabinet- don't need much)

You can go back and forth of which one works better and more effective, but here's what I did. Decent size room. I picked up a gallon of the cheapest flat white at the box store and just slapped it all over the walls. I did stink up the joint, but I did the room in two shots while I shifted away the plants. It was easy, fast and cheap. Peace

Also, I agree about the mirrors. I don't think the 99% reflective stat is the problem cause that's a good thing. I feel that the mirror advances the light making it way too powerful for the leaves to consume nutrients from it. It would be like taking a plant and moving closer to the sun. You'll just fry it.
