    my basement

My basement isn't well maintained. It's more like a dungeon, and it's even got the smell. I got to thinking. What if I took a 3k watt heater to the floor. Let it dry then sweep. Then take some bleach to it. And put the heater on the floor again. I hear a black light will kill bacteria and crap. Perhaps I should stick one down there. Maybe put it on the outside of my enclosed grow area. Some of the light might get in though, but very little if any. Is the minor exposure going to hurt it? Plants are exposed to UV light all the time right? The sun.

Black lights that are available to the average person aren't intense enough to kill bacteria, just maybe annoy them...

    Bleach is good though.

After you bleach, paint your cellar walls and floor with an oil-based fungicidal paint meant for basements or wet places. I used KILZ and it was fine. Apply it with a small push broom!

    Then keep a dehumidifier going.

    Voila, no more musty nastiness.

1 tablespoon/gallon of water is a good cleaning solution. put some in a spray bottle, some in a bucket with a stout brush and get cleaning!
