freestylersThat doesn't mean that they aren't two of the greatest hip-hop artists (probably 1 and 2) of all time. I'm talking about the music and only the music.

And selling out is just a bad way of saying 'being a smart businessman'. Can't argue with that. They both went from the absolute shit bottom of the financial barrel to kings of hip-hop..might as well milk it while you have the opportunity. When you have had nothing all you're life, money is pretty good motivation.

freestylersI don't really respect selling out. Jay has skill though, and so does eminem. They are DEFINATLEY not THAT great though. Infinate was good and Jay in general has skill. Originally Posted by MacWQ33 Originally Posted by MacWQ33

freestylersOverall...taking every possible category into question, they are two of the best. Flow, delivery, rhyme scheme, lyrics, subject matter, change of style, pitch, & tempo, passion, album sales, growth as an artist, number of records, commercials hits, street hits, ability to spit on any beat, ability to make a great song, inspiring lyrics, respect from peers, influence on hip-hop as a genre...meaning they both changed a whole entire genre of music in a positive way, etc. Can only say that for maybe a handful of other MC's (Nas, Tupac, BIG to name a few). But besides all that shit, Em got 4 albums (counting Infinite) you can listen to song for song, and Jay got like 8 lol.

Not to mention Jay doesn't even write his lyrics on paper, and has worked his way up to CEO of the biggest record company in the world (it's a business man, you gotta realize that, it's not selling out..it's doing what you're suppose to, trying to make it to the top by conversing your music to the world). Em got the whole country in a stir concerning many issues...not many people can do that.

You might be an underground-head, which is fine. But, you gotta keep an open-mind past the underground. And I just wanted to throw this out there...not trying to change your mind or anything, just maybe give you something to think about...helping out a fellow hip-hop head. I hope you enjoyed my thoughts lol...cheers.

freestylersAlright, I can respect that. Can't really think of anyone off the top of my head that did all those things you mentioned, maybe Common, but besides that I dunno. Originally Posted by MacWQ33 Originally Posted by MacWQ33

freestylersThanks man..much appreciated. And yes I totally agree, Common has definitely come a long way and his music has influenced many people and effected hip-hop in such a positive light, probably even more so than many. People who look down on hip-hop seem to look past the Commons and the Talibs, and it's rather unfortunate for those people.

freestylersI can't really rap for shit, but here is my sad attempt at a freestyle.

Here I am, stylin on cann dot com
about to drop a lyrical bomb
My lyrics suck and I have barely any flow
My contents are that of your average joe
I'm bi-polar and take a gang of meds
and I rep for all the hiphop heads
Mary Jane, the most amazing girl I think i'll ever meet
Always giving happiness, what a great feat
They way she treats my mood is amazing
No better feeling then when we blazing
 Everything hot like fire
All her chrystals and hair I admire

yeah that kinda sucked and I just came at a blank after that so yeah

Hate it if ya want and say we ain't taken over
But the truth is southern playas always keep it colder
I be rocked up from my feet up to my head
Said I'm a paper baker cuz I'm alll about my bread
Catch me in the slab rollin up some sticky bud
bumpin funk i pop tha trunk and show love to my hood
Say whats up to tha sippi when ya see me in the streets
Mayne my rims as big as midgets in some three inch cleats
You know I keep it hotter than some lava in a mothafuckin volcano
I think I lost my mind in 89 but I'm still gettin some brain tho
Watch me swang the lane when I come down in my lac
once I get up in my thang joo it ain't no turnin back.
Pack the gat and get ta bustin
 Buckin while ya fuckin cussin
Hollin bout some motha fuck em
Fuck him and his fuckin cousin
