freestylersits a shame how hip hop has turned rap into a business/
its a well known fact money has turned men into bitches/
i remember back in the day hip hop used to be a hobby/
nowadays you cant develop a style without someone tryin to copy/
commercial hip hop fuck it, its all basically the same thing/
now you cant be an underground rapper without everybody hating/
fuck 50, fuck g-unit, fuck all the money hungry assholes/
podge just reps the real shit to start a revolution like castro/
i choose break dancing and graffiti over jewellery and big rides/
they ruin the hip hop culture and y'all just seem to stand by/
all they want in life, is the money and the fame/
everyone seems to buy the tracks, but you know they sound the same/
i buy music from underground peeps just to play my part/
hip hop doesnt make me money, but its always in my heart/

just a little something considerin savagepossom is hatin on commercial rap
if you think all rap is bullshit mate then your just not listenin to the right artists. if ya want i could hook you up wit some proper music, just pm me your msn addy or somethin

freestylersYeah, I agree most people here are following commercial stereotypes. It's a shame really...that's what makes hip-hop have such a bad rep outside of the culture. But, yeah, you are also ignorant and naive if you think most rap is bullshit. Commercial makes up for like 1% of hip-hop. But, as an artist, you gotta have one or two commercial tracks on a record (not necessarily about guns and girls)...they are called singles.

The words 'commercial' and 'mainstream' are such loose terms, that they really don't even make sense anyway. Would you consider Eminem and Jay-Z commerical because 1 or 2 out of 20 songs on the album is a catchy single? If you do..fine..but they are still 2 of the best hip-hop artists of all time no matter what the characterization.
