Be chill, but when the time comes stand up.

Yeh man, relax, don't let it affect you.
Timing is the key, wait for the right time, keep a cool head and get the cunt when his gaurds down.
Just don't do it out of revenge or in anger. Clear your mind. Wax on, Wax Off Daniel-San.

its always gonna be nicer to follow animalistic instincts and paste someone into the floor, but if you know its gonna have bad circumstances leave it to a later safer time, or just rip them apart verbally.

It really depends on the context in which behavior is taking place. That should dictate the appropriate actions.
If you're talking about society at large (friends, family, strangers, etc.), usually the best approach is to simply stand steadfast with your beliefs and what you feel is right. Everyone has a different 'style' and that may contradict with your personality. Usually what I have found is that people who try to throw their weight around do so because A.) they're unhappy with themselves, B.) Are TOO happy with themselves, C.) have no control in other areas of their life so they try to exact control where they feel they can. It's a defense mechanism. I have a pretty firm personality so I don't run into this situation often. When I do, I simply ignore the offender. When it happens enough times, they usually get the message and redesign the approach they use with me. Stay firm, stay respectful.
If you're talking about work, that's a whole nother issue. It really depends on the enviornment you're in. If you're working a menial job, then sure, you can simply tell them to fuck off. If you work in a professional enviornment, then you must remain professional, even if the person you're dealing with isn't acting the same. In the professional world, you never burn your bridges because you don't know who you'll be working for tomorrow. The co-worker you tell to fuck off today could be your boss a year from now. Again, stay firm, stay respectful, and stay professional. Trust me, in the long run, you'll win out.
ALWAYS take the higher road!

It's more effective in the long run if you can think of a way to screw someone over without taking the violence route. :smokin:
Especially when your other hobbies aren't exactly legal. Why draw more attention to yourself from the police? Assault has a funny way of doing that.
The mind is a powerful tool. But if someone tries to lay the smackdown on my ass, being 6'3" and weighing 90 kg helps me take care of myself. But only as a last resort.
