Hey, that's OK. If someone listens, then I did my good deed for the day.

But seriously, I went through this with my wife. She wanted surgery, then she wanted pills, then she started trying all these new fangled diets, then I said, "ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, who they hell do you think I am, Rockafeller!?!?". Laziness gets expensive...

I make her walk with me everyday, just around our complex. She only does 1.5 miles, but I do about 3 - 4. She feels better, she's losing the weight, and it costs me nothing, nadda, zippo, zilch. Win...win.

I ain't saying you have to come up with this detailed regime and live by it faithfully. But for Jeebus sakes, if you got your hand permanently attached to a box of Ho-Ho's, don't complain your ass is spreading!

Working out is how I maintain my sanity as well as my body. It truly keeps me grounded and calm and happy. It's the best anti-depressant in the world. And it's also amazing how undepressed you feel when you look good in clothes (or out of them!). In addition to the health benefits Big Cal listed above, exercise has also been proven to reduce the risk of several types of cancer, breast, colon, and prostate among them. I plan to still be kicking butt at the gym when I'm 100 years old.

Working out? It totaly depends on the person's psychology. Is being healthy worth the effort it takes? Is looking good worth the effort it takes? Are you wanting to do something with your life that requires physical fitness? If the answer is "yes" to any of these questions, you have your answer.

The answer might change in different periods of your life as well. You could take a year off to be as fat and lazy as you want, just because you feel like it. Maybe the next year you wanna get some nookie, or take a job that is demanding physicaly, so you shape up.

Personaly, I train to fight in MMA (I want to be in the UFC some day as my boyhood dream). I NEED to be in shape, so I spend about 4-5 hours a day training in various ways, being sure not to overtrain, and give good rest time for recovery. It takes alot of work to be a successfull, steroid free fighter, so to me it is worth it, but I can't answer for the rest of you.

Of course. It's good for your heart, your lungs, muscles, you sleep better, general improvement of mood, etc.
