Try looking up something called "Lavender" over at Somaseeds DOT NL...

Tell me what you think.....a lot of the purple strains and purpling plants as youve been told are just a fad the Cannabis world is going thru.
In the early days....a gold color was desired because of it's origin geographically, now it's the colors ...eg...purple, blue and pink hues.

Nothing wrong with that; but the masses seemed very informed...just becaus eit's this or that color doesn't make it potent.

If you feel up to a chalenge try growing out some White Rhino or a decent Afghani strain and expose the plant to cooler temps.
    Imagine that ......Purple Rhino

damn I can't believe I forgot Lavender, thanks Organic Rasta, Lavender is a purple plant that is actually very potent.

In the late 60's and early 70's there was the Colombian Gold phase, which can easily be done by cutting the stalks of the buds where they cant recover and actually letting them die for between 3-6 days. After that was the brief Panama Red phase. After that in the late 70's to early to mid 80's was the 'Purple Craze' which many saavy growers took advantage of by leaving there not so potent plants out in the cold and let them purple up and then selling them for double or triple what they were really worth, and therefore killing the 'Purple Craze'.

Organic Rasta is right, just because a strain has pretty colors doesn't make it potent...

ok i know its not about potent weedd...ive had white widow and white rhino, ive had afgan weed, ive had thai weed ive had all that shit....i never had purple bud before though u think white rhino actaull can turn purple?...also when i grow like that should i just keep the temp down the entire grow or just the last 2 or 3 weeks of flowerring?

Well they say that the majority of indica/ indica dominant plants will turn purple in cold conditions but the fact is that most sativas included will turn purple in cold conditions. For the best growth don't do it in vegetative stage but I would say start it after week 4 of the budding cycle.

Did you all know that the purple color is actually a plant pigment like chlorophyll (green). Now, a healthy plant will have plenty of chlorophyll in its palisade cells to carry on photosynthesis. A plant that can turn purple in the cold ALWAYS has that purple pigment (I forgot the name of it, sorry) present, but you can't see it because of the green. As the cold weather causes chlorophyll to die and be degraded, the purple shows. This is the same reason maple leaves turn brilliant red in the fall. But-and this is important- they are about to be shed, and the tree no longer plans to use them that year.
That's why Smoky M is right about waiting until late flower to try and cold-stress your plants into showing purple. Any earlier, and you could harm their ability to make sugars.

There are only a few that you can buy from seed.
Black Domina is the only one I recommend.
    Clone wise.
There is Purple Urkle, Granddaddy purple and Purple Cream.
And the best Purple strain you can get is Purple Kush.
Hard to find the real one.
Lots of copy cats that aren't nearly as good.

Yes I did, I thought that was a little bit to indepth for him as all he wants is to smoke purple buds. Good post, btw, the pigment is called anthocyanin for the purple traits. And carotenoid for the red, orange and brown colors in cannabis.
