    Root question, need help!!!

Details: 3 gallons of soil, 400w HPS, can fan & filter, 2nd week of flowering.

Now my plants are about a foot and a half, and the roots are growing out of the drain holes. Is this going to be a problem or should I not worry/care. I didn't want to transplant them again because I read once they are in flowering, any stress like transplanting could cause major problems. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Don't worry about it. Yes, roots growing out of the drain holes can be considered reason to transplant, but 3 gallons of dirt for a 1.5' plant that will probably finish at 3 feet is ideal; in fact, it's by the book.

The breeder BOG has mentioned in some interview somewhere that instead of transplanting, he's just cut the bottom of the pot right off and set it on TOP of another pot of soil for the roots to grow into, with excellent results.

But it is probably not necessary for you to do that; just continue to monitor their water use and keep up with it.

stinky, that is the method I use as well. its never failed me and never given me a hermie. And I have done it even 5 weeks into flowering!!!! However yeah, 3 gallons is quite big and I would only transplant if you have noticed growth stunted or if the leaves are cupping down and curling under. If all you see is roots coming out and the plant looks perfect, dont touch anything. If youve got roots pouring out of a 3 gallon pot, your gonna have a nice plant (more roots = more canopy = more buds). Do you let the water run out of the drain holes? How much if so?

sorry racerx, I have not been online much. I haven't been letting the water run out of the drain holes(I did before I transplanted). Lately I have been giving them about four cups of water every 5th day. I am new to growing as this is my first grow, but I have been trying to get a feel for how much to water without watering too much. Do you think I should let the water run out the drain holes when I water? The plants do look good however, they have flowers starting all over. I vegged 3 plants for about 30 days, 1 male and 2 females, killed the male(it was my best looking plant until he showed his balls). I have been feeding them Fox Farm's Big Bloom, Grow Big, and now Tiger Bloom. Oh the roots are coming out of all 5 drain holes with at least 3-4 per hole.
