Snip the smallest sample possible, off a bud leaf. Put it on a white paper plate. If you cut it small enough. the microscope will fit over it. No matter how small you cut it, you will still have to move the microscope around to view it all. You can take micro-samples all over your crop. (P.S...don't get resin on the lens- don't use rubbing achohol to clean lens)..60X is ideal.
