Why me? Cancer at 23
I'm sorry, man. My mom got cancer when I was really young. My two aunts have it right now but they're recovering very well and will defenitly turn out better than my mom did.

as a fellow cancer victim, all I can recommend is: go to a childrens' hospital, and look at the cancer patients that are 4 or 5 years old, then be grateful you got 23 years in ... better yet, volunteer to go in and cheer those poor kids up ...

Thanks so much for the update, THCBongman! I was hoping we'd hear from you soon. Glad you're making it through the "fire," so to speak, and that you've got your fighting spirit intact.
By the way, I happen to find bald men very sexy. Lots of women do! You'll notice just how far Lance Armstrong let his hair grow out after his treatments were over. He found a look that attracted chicks and pretty well stuck with it.
Good luck with the rest of the chemo, and please keep us updated. Much love and light to you!\"That best portion of a good man\'s life: his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and love.\"

Yeh, cancer evil, no joke. Especially when you're young. There's almost no reason or answer as to why. That's probably the hardest thing mentally to deal with having cancer early in life. Finding out I had cancer (squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue) after living a healthy, active lifestyle was the most confusing thing I ever could have been told. After chemo and surgery, I've found this will completely change the person I was. Loosing 95% of your tongue and having that replaced by a good portion of one's latismus dorsi doesn't leave much functionality of the mouth. I'm hoping ina year or two I'll have learned / gotten accustomed to eating normal food so I can go to restaraunts.
All you can do is accept it and fight all you can. Support helps, and after going to support groups and finding no one I can really connect with due to my agec(19) . Most cancer patients are old and have lived a life already. Let me know if I can be of any comfort, man. I understand what you're going through and know what it's like.
Take it easy.

ShrmHntr, so sorry to hear you're a cancer survivor, too. I didn't realize that. I have a sister who has a very advanced case of ovarian cancer, but she fortunately got half her life before she was diagnosed at 47. She's 51 now.
Do you mind my asking if you'd been a cigarette smoker or oral tobacco user before you were diagnosed? If not, do they have a guess why you got an oral cancer at such a young age?
The disease has a way of reorganizing your priorities real fast, doens't it? Seeing it at such close range in my sister, who lives with us, has taught me a lot about going for what I want in life. Also about loving more and criticizing less. About so many things, really.\"That best portion of a good man\'s life: his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and love.\"

Bongman you definetely stay positive  as much as you possibly can!! Stress really can make your immune system worse. I have had female cancer and they say they have or think they have got it all.. but that it can keep coming back... Unfortunately I just lost my mom to lung cancer last March and yes I know the treatments can be rough....They caught her cancer in the late stages (Stage 3) and she had to go thru 9 weeks of radiation and chemo. Unfortunately I lost her in her 9th week of treatment.. I thought I knew about cancer and how rough it could be for people but I didnt know shit until it happened to my mother... My thoughts and prayers are definetely with you , and remeber just try to stay positive and make the most out of life, I know it is easy for me to say but it is the best advice I know to give.. Stay strong

Why cancer at 23? Why did I get cancer at 13? Man do I know how awful cancer is. I'm STILL going to childrens hospital every other month for shit. I had hodgekins lymphoma and I lost my hair, had chemo and radiation for about a year and a half every day, skip a day come back and do it again. Every day i'd have to lay in bed and watch children who were 4 and 5 years old run around after getting surgeries, unaware that they were gonna die, and watching their parents go through it. skip a day come back and do it again. Now it's been 3 years and i'm in remission. Its funny how no one thinks it will happen to them but little do they know that 1 outa 3 people will die of some sort of cancer. Good luck man, cancer made me a stronger person. Oh and don't let anyone make you feel like some weak and helpless victim because it could be alot worse.

Just something I thought I'd add here, studies have shown that the anti-oxidants from Roobos Green Tea, Blueberries, strawberries, and especially rasberries can destroy cancer cells, and slow its progression by preventing cell mutation.
