Man, my worst job plaes in comparrison to some of the others listed here. I worked at a local Gamestop last summer, and it sucked, alot. Now, I know all the other gamers out there have got to be saying "Dude! You worked in a video game store! You lucky bastard!" Believe you me, thats how I fealt at first to.

The store was right on the edge of the ghetto, so we alot of our customers were gang members (or wannabies), alot of whom gave us shit for no real reason at all. There were also the annoying parents who would come in with their screaming kids, and take out their frustration on us. Finally, we had actual gamers, and as one of those myself, I can tell you that some of us are just so goddamn annoying, clueless, and socially inept you had to resist the temptation to strangle them. There was one guy who would come into the store at opening, and just hang around all day playing demos, reading strategy guides, not buying anything, and annoying the shit out of us and the customers.

Then there was the day we got a gun pulled on us. I was at the counter explaining to some guy why halo didn't exist for the PS2 (lots of very dumb customers), and one of my coworkers was at the other register, working on a return with some guy in his 40s who obviously still wanted to be running with a gang out on the streets. My coworker was explaining to the guy that we couldn't take the games back as A. He didn't have a reciept and B. He bought them at a different store. Well, this guy just wouldn't take no for an answer, and eventually took out a gun and pointed it at my coworker. Everybody just stopped and looked at the situation, then the wannabe gangster realised that shooting someone with about 10 witnesses was probably not a good idea, out the gun back in his pants, and stormed out, leaving his games on the counter. We called the cops, but seeing as this was in Oakland, they probably had more important things to deal with.
