It's just an ashcatcher. An extra chamber for filtration, plus it ensures that when you suck through, the ash doesn't go into your main chamber.

umm...are you sure thats not an ice catcher...so you can have your hit go through ice cubes, thats what we do with my friends bong (looks kinda like that one)

An icecatcher is usually just a few ridges at the bottom of the shaft so you can put ice cubes in the pipe/shaft thing and then the smoke, after being filtered through water, also is cooled by going through the ice stack. Mine's too small to fit ice cubes. The ashcatcher is just like a bubbler, like he said. Serves as some more water filtration and to, well, catch the ashes.

yeah why are people surprised to hear this haha?

the ashcatcher is the pull on the bowl like he said, that catches the ash so your main chamber doesnt get dirty. cute lil piece, but you could probably slide the gromet up a little so thats its not leaning like it is. and your right is doesnt have any ice notches, but ive seen people buy little plastic balls with water in them and you freeze them then throw them in the shaft of the water piece, works nicely.

i was a dudes house up in humboldt and either i was trippin or he had a bong with an ashcatcher with another slide out of the ashcatcher it was crazy but i was baked out of my head
