UVB?
BroDZ, well done. It would be very prudent of you to make sure that you have a way to turn the uvb lights off when in your grow room. However, i'm not sure how this would affect the flowering cycle. I would suggest then that you only inturupt the light cycle by having the uvb lights come on 20 min after your hps main lights come on, this would give you time to perform maintenaince duties.
On UV-b light and the production of it. Black lights DO NOT produce signifigant quantities of UV-b, they mostly produce UB-a (totally useless, except for looking cool). Don't take my word for it, go look here for your self
To produce UV-b you need a light designed for that purpose. HPS lights emit in the more yellow end of the spectrum, MH in the more green blue end, but neither of them will produce UV-b in any meaningful quantity, plus if you have a pane of glass between the bulb and the plant, the glass will stop 95% of all UV-b coming out anyway (as is the case with vented lights).
So, what's the answer? Well my best suggestion is reptile lights, go to the reptile store and tell them you need a UV-b light for your iguana (common request). They should set you up. One of the best bulbs, is the fluorescent reptisun 5.0 or 10.0, the higher one is better. I know that THC production is higher in UV-b but i have no idea what quantity is needed, so go the pet store. I will post some results when i have them.DR. Science Reviewed by DR. Science on . UVB? http://marijuana-optics.greatnow.com/ this article tells of UVBs effects on a cannabis plant... If what I read is correct, higher UVB levels dramatically increase the Thc content of plants... is this true? And how the fuck do I artificially generate that kinda light? Rating: 5
