Guess what?

I smoked hops this weekend!

I went to the Mt. Snow Brewfest in Vermont- It was AWESOME, Harpoon Munich Dark is STILL my all time favorite beer.

The nice people at Long Trail Brewery were kind enough to have a display that included some nice hop cones.

My impression is this:

The high is VERY sedative. Very sleepy and relaxing, but still similar enough to cannabis that you can recognize the relation.

I slept like a log afterwards.

The taste is a cross between the flavor of a nice IPA, and a REALLY good cigar, if you can imagine that.

The lupulin resin glands are a clear, bright yellow. The cones look like hemlock pinecones, but of course green, and papery.

I give cannabis' legal cousin a thumbs up.

Smoking hops Okay, my newest bit of useful/useless info: I was reading up on medicinal herbs, particulary those with sedative or anti-anxiety effects, and came across a reference to people actually SMOKING hops. This isn't TOO surprising since hops is the closest family member to cannabis, they are both classified as the Cannabacae, and as you can see from the attached thumbnails they're virtually identical in how they show their sex parts. Lupulin, produced by the female flowers of hops, is a Rating: 5
