I smoked hops this weekend!

I went to the Mt. Snow Brewfest in Vermont- It was AWESOME, Harpoon Munich Dark is STILL my all time favorite beer.

The nice people at Long Trail Brewery were kind enough to have a display that included some nice hop cones.

My impression is this:

The high is VERY sedative. Very sleepy and relaxing, but still similar enough to cannabis that you can recognize the relation.

I slept like a log afterwards.

The taste is a cross between the flavor of a nice IPA, and a REALLY good cigar, if you can imagine that.

The lupulin resin glands are a clear, bright yellow. The cones look like hemlock pinecones, but of course green, and papery.

I give cannabis' legal cousin a thumbs up.

I smoked hops for a few months. my conclusions are thus

- they smell funky like shoes

- theyre a bit relaxing and calming

- they dont get you buzzed unless alot is smoked

- they taste yummy like shoes

The pictures are of hops. The first picture is of the female buds before they turn into those pine-cone looking things... They look extremely similar to cannabis buds. If I were ever to smoke hops, I'd smoke them looking like cannabis buds, rather than smoking the pine-cone thing.

The second picture is of the leaves of the hop plant. It has 7 "fingers" although they are not completely sepearate, as cannabis leaves are. You can see though, how it looks very similar to a cannabis indica leaf.

This is very interesting to me because i have two problems, one is that i am now on probation for 12months and i had to quit burnin.. its not a problem for me to quit, well i mean it is but i have no choice so its not too hard to stop smoking.. BUUT my second problem is i cannot sleep.. ive tried nyquil, benedryl, pm medicenes... and nothing works, been an every day toker for 5 years now..

how strong was the effect after smoking? how long did it take to take effect?

This sounds pretty interesting. My gf just informed me that a plant nursery down the street has hops. I might be experimenting with this sometime in the near future. And from what I've heard, the nations largest amount of hops are produced in the pacific northwest in washington and oregon. PERFECT.

I'll report back after I try it.

You have to wait until they turn into pine cones and the lupulin glands have matured. Otherwise it's as dumb as smoking the first cottonball buds on your cannabis plant!

It's a pretty obvious effect almost immediately. Just keep smoking up until you get to the level of sleepiness you like!

I hear ya gmoney, I used to use Nyquil to get better sleep but it just gives me a horrible hung-over logey feeling the next day.
