A lot of times the no-smoking-after-surgery prohibition really refers more to no cigarette smoking, but it's true that any smoke might make the risk of dry sockets worse because of potential drying, which could set up the conditions for infection. A good length of time to wait would probably be five to seven days, but I know that's a bummer. Think about the alternative, though, of possibly getting an infection or having to go back in for a cleanout procedure, then having to delay smoking even longer.
birdgirl73 Reviewed by birdgirl73 on . Wisdom Teeth And Smoking Well I just got my wisdom teeth taken out... My Dentist told me no smoking... and was wondering how long you had to wait until you could smoke?... i couldn't ask him because my mouth was completely numb and full of gauze and blood. I tried looking i've read 24 hrs, 4 days, 1 week and 2 weeks... so i don't know... all i know is that if you do smoke when your not suppose to it is very harmful... and can get infected or dry socets. So anyone here know or have to experience getting their Rating: 5
