Getting a Medical Card - loss of appetite?
Hello, I've been a frequent smoker for about 2 years now and have been researching medicinal marijuana. I know you have to have a valid reason and recent medical history to get it. I believe i need it because of loss of appetite, how do i show the doctor medical records of this? I've been skinny all my life (5'0 130lbs) for about the past 4-5 years. I have other problems that marijuana could treat too (headaches & depression), should i mention this? What are the odds of a physician reccomending me for this? Any suggestions?
p.s. i live in southern californiabishop420 Reviewed by bishop420 on . Getting a Medical Card - loss of appetite? Your lucky you live in SoCal, otherwise you really wouldn't have a chance. Anyway, I'm pretty sure loss of hunger/appetite is amongst the 80 or so LISTED ailments that allow you to get a card, but remember there is always "other" :rasta:. It depends on your doctors views on medical m, if he/she is against it or just ignorant, then it's going to be hard to get their signature, but if they are somewhat for it than they won't have any problems with signing it.

It depends on if you are or aren't really sick. You can have a card, it's not gonna save you from jailtime if you don't suffer a real disease. You sound skinny, not sickly skinny.
If you're not really hurt, you're hurting the people who really are hurt, if you get what I mean.

I am presuming that you do not have any past medical records. You need to see a regular doctor first for a while. Tell him your problems in great detail. Get him to prescribe Imitrix (sp?) for your migraines. Take it or not as you like, but tell him you are getting side effects -- they are listed in very tiny print on the paper that comes with the pills or go on line (Imitrix side effects) and take your pick. Then after telling your doctor about your side effects, wait a month or two and then ask for a copy of your records. They are YOUR records. You have a snowflake's chance in hell to get a regular doctor to recommend MMJ. (Mine even admitted to using pot as a kid, but was too scared of the feds to recommend MMJ) You will need to see a specialist (check NORML for a list). After you have your medical records, make your appointment, pay the nice doctor and walk out legal. Migraines are one of the major things I got my recomendation for (I was nearly killed at age 3 by a hammer swinging kid and have migraines and dents in my skull to prove it! I've been cat scanned , x-rayed and all that jazz.) You may also want to play up possible borderline anorexia. My husband is a chronic depressive (on SSI for it) and a bad back. He has a recomendation for an ounce a week. We have legitimate medical conditions, but love our pot too! Incidentally, doctors cannot prescribe MMJ!!! They would lose their licenses! They CAN recommend it, legally. Funny thing is that they can prescribe Marinol (pure synthetic THC in sesame oil). Synthetic or natural, THC is THC, but the FDA is kind of schizophrenic about it's classifcation as a drug. Go over to NORML and read up on the laws, don't grow over your limit and keep a low profile. Good luck!
