Hemp in America

Can hemp be grown in America? If not, how are hemp products allowed in? I'm sure that this has been asked before... but I was confused.

the Bush Administration is trying to halt all sales, but at the moment the 200 million dollar hemp goods industry is supplied by countries that allow the cultivation of hemp. Countries like, Canada, or Germany. Many European countries allow the cultivation of hemp for food or cosmetic products. I have a pair of jeans made from hemp that I have been unable to kill for the past 4 years. Hemp fashion accesories like hand bags and hats, even shoes have been made of hemp and imported into this country. Hemp is one of nature's true miracle plants
