The 'holy grail' is 1 gram/watt, so 2.2 pounds if absolutely everything goes perfectly. Of course, there's a lot more to it than just your lighting, but that's probably the single biggest factor affecting yield. Not many achieve that though, and certainly not in their first few grows. Realistically, hope for half of that and if you get it, be happy, and consider anything beyond that a bonus; it's better to be a pessimist and pleasantly surprised than an optimist and completely disappointed.

That's a pretty small space for a 1k light, btw, and really more suitable for a 400w light. Hope you have all your ventilation needs figured out and taken care of!

I was planning on running a carbon filter with an exhaust fan on it with a small hole on the bottom cab. maybe a couple clip on fANS inside to keep it cool?

If I were you, I'd definitely use a cooltube on your light. That'll help keep your temps under control. Clip-on fans moving the air around inside is also a good idea, to strengthen stems and circulate air. That's about 3 times as much light as you need for that space. I don't think it'll do any harm to the plants (although it will harm your electric bill!), but you'll have to design everything around that light and the accompanying heat that it will generate in that small of a space.

To put things into perspective, my cabinet has about the same area in terms of square feet (it's 20" deep, but 47" wide, so not as deep, but wider). Here's a few pics of the cabinet with just three plants in it, and using just a 400w bulb with some accent CFLs (four 30-watt warm CFLs on each side), for a total of 640 watts. My temps inside the cabinet run about 10 degrees hotter than ambient room temperature (if it's 70 degrees in the room, it's 80 degrees in the box), if I have all lights running.

I would have probs running a 1k light, personally; I don't know if I could keep it cool enough. But besides that, even if I could, I don't think I could really squeeze any more plant matter into the space, regardless of light, so it wouldn't make sense for me to use more light, because that'd just raise the electric bill. Heh.

If you do get a 1k light working in that small of a space, and handle the heat okay, show us some pics! It'll be pretty impressive if you can do it. I know people *have* done it successfully.

I'm really impressed bro, shit thats a nice set up.I'm thinking bout usin the "cool tube" and you just sold it.How many grams do you average per yield jam?Do you use a fan around the plants or does the cool tube do it?Just I can't see one and those stems look strong. The branching is beutiful too.

Well done Jam 10/10 in my book.

Haha, yeah, I thought that was funny when I added it too.

Average around a pound, sometimes a bit less, sometimes a bit more. That's just buds, and there's usually a few ounces of leaf too. The woman likes joints (and I don't), so I twist her up the leaf stuff, we smoke the buds together, and if I smoke alone, it's bud. Gonna try some cooking before too long too; just got a crockpot specifically for that (woman was paranoid of me using the good crockpot and making it permanently smell of pot).

You won't regret using a cooltube. Very space-efficient, and great at keeping the temps down. I do have a 6" oscillating clipon fan blowing on the plants. You can't see it because it's kinda tucked behind the cooltube. There's another one blowing on the ballast, although it's a digital ballast and probably doesn't need it, as it doesn't get that hot. Normal non-digital ballasts get quite hot though, so if that's what you have, I'd keep it out of the growing space.

A 1000k light in that area, whoo, woo. You better be up here in Alaska. You are going to be able to bake bread in that bad boy. Seriosly, temps are going to be your arch enamy. Before putting any plants in there you will want to do a test run without any babies in order to gage your temps.

Thanks Jam,that'l be great help.I have a 400w hps with built in timer.Changing to 600w for this grow.I usually start them with 200 enviorlight blue.Gives them a good start and the temp is nearly never a problem.I'l keep an eye on the 600w I know its gona make a big difference.Should be ok.
