Do I need to add lime to Black Gold soil?
Should nutes be necessary too throughout the grow? I know they're not necessary at first.rsampson187 Reviewed by rsampson187 on . Black Gold + lime? Do I need to add lime to Black Gold soil? Should nutes be necessary too throughout the grow? I know they're not necessary at first. Rating: 5

Black Gold + lime?
i have never seen quality potting soil that wasn't ph neutral or within half a point either way and many list the ph rating on the bag. as long as it's standard potting soil and not special with lower ph for acid-loving plants it will be fine as it is. i have never had to treat potting soil fresh out of the bag for ph but almost all of them need better drainage...so get a bag or two of perlite while you're there.

On the other hand...It is recommended to add a couple tbs of crushed dolomitic lime to each 10lbs of soil to buffer your ph.
m.g. is an experienced grower that I respect. So in this case...I would advise you read some published works on the subject and make a more informed decision. Personally, I add dolomitic lime to all my soil mixes.
