i think its about those times, when your with a nice little girl, and your doing something illegal, and bonding.....then she/he gets in trouble (arrested possibly) and you feel bad

I have a book of his work called Cool Gardens and this is one of my favorites (I find the first two lines particularly moving). I was hoping to hear a few opinions on the meaning of this poem.
