i used to think it was the weed
that made me wig out, whenever i smoke, i feel really weird, and i dont know why, but then i discovered it was bad anxiety i was having along with panic attacks, the weed just made it worse, now im on medication and it feels good to be able to smoke again and feel good, it was odd, before when i smoked to much i would freak out, and see large flashes of light, so i held that against weed and would not smoke for the longest time.....well to celebrate i went out and bought a 3/4oz

Marijuana helps me (and many others) with anxiety when I feel it. Odd that it worsened yours. And unfortunate that you had to resort to meds to make you feel good.
There is a root cause to the anxiety and panic attacks and if you discover that rather than just mask the symptoms your problem will be much smaller and easier to deal with.
With me, I find the root and deal with it, and use MJ if necessary to manage the symptoms to enable me to move forward with my "cure"
It was much worse when I simply masked the symptoms...the problem was always there regardless...waiting for me to deal with it.
Pills or pot wont make it go away, just distract you from it for a while.
This is not a solution. Used as a management technique to get it under control is safe enough but denying yourself resolution is not.

If possible, stick to Indicas and avoid Sativas. Some Sativas make anxiety worse. Ask who has the "couch lock" strains. When you can, move to a MMJ state and grow your own, like I do. I'm just "moody" (Mom was a full-blown bipolar) and a bit compulsive/obsessive and any indica does me fine. Keeps me evened out. When I want to do art work, however, I love sativas. (You should see the Chinese water color I did on C-99! Looks just like the 17th century original. A friend liked it and asked where I had bought it! LOL).

i used to have a friend that did that.. i just took him aside one time and actully had like a heart to heart talk to him and he hasnt had a bad trip since..
