Need your help...

Ok, so about once every couple of weeks, me and my dad get into it about smoking "dope"... we argue and argue and argue and get absolutely no where because my dad is very conservative who is a Bush fan, and basically my dad's only arguement is that its "illegal" and thats why i shouldn't do it. I seriously doubt he knows much more about cannabis than that.
I try to inform him because i'm pretty well educated on the whole cannabis related subject but he just doesnt seem to listen to anything i have to say. He answers my questions with other questions and it just doesnt end.
So i want to gather a buch of information and print it out and basically present it to him in hopes that i can somehow convince this man to love marijuana as much as i do.
So i ask all of you... any informational resourse that i can research is much appreciated. Please let me in on some of the things that you guys know about the war on drugs, health issues concerning marijuana, legal issues, medicinal issues...etc.

all i can tell you is that you wont change his mind and you shouldent waste your energy. just because he is conservitive he will deny and disregard any blatent facts no matter how mutch truth is behind it even if its undisputable. some people are just like this.

Most of the time, most people will listen to their own biased beliefs than the truth. Why? Because people don't like to admit that they were wrong and will believe anything that tells them they are infallible.

For example, you started to believe that cannabis should be legal and is relatively harmless after you started using it, right? Sadly, whether or not that's true, it does make your opinion biased.

Like peacenotprofit said, I don't think you'll be able to convince your dad. Just bite your lip while under his roof, stay in school, and prove him wrong by becoming a big success in life.

Don't expect to change his closed mind. But take pride in the fact that you may make a slight inroad into its surface. And be proud of the fact that you're learning to establish and argue a valid, important point about the benefits of this substance. You'll get better at these arguments. And more persuasive. And you will be contributing to a good and necessary effort. And maybe just maybe you'll eventually begin changing other minds that are less resistant and more influential.
