Certainly there is an advantage. You could negociate contracts with companies to do help desk support.

There's a lot of competition, but if you have the persistance, it can be accomplished.

I would start out getting certification for your skills, and start talking to small businesses, write up a proposal for your services. If you are willing to face some uncertainty, you should go for it. High-risk, high-reward.

Or you could simply get a job that needs those skills. :P
