I mentioned this in a thread before, but I have been in the position not once, not twice, but now 4 times where I have had to transplant in flowering. Essentially, most of my plants like their size, but once in awhile (maybe due to more or less air in the soil then others) one gets rootbound. Unfortunetly for me, it seems this only happens in flowering. My most recent transplant was over 3 weeks into flowering. I used a simple method of cutting the bottom of the pot off. Since its a plastic pot, with a good saw (better yet a dremel or air tool or grinder) cut the bottom off while holding the plant as steady as possible. Take the bottom off, and have your new larger pot ready. Set the plant into the new pot, with dirt still around the plastic pot. Pack it in lightly. No watering. Give it a couple days and a good water. When your done and you bud, pull out the first bucket and you find a root system that has fully developed into the entire new bucket. Hence one of the reasons outdoor plants can thrive so well. Anyways, the recent transplant I did was yet another affirmation that plants need roots and space. Within a couple days the leaves were perked up, its color was returning, and even its smell was better. A week later almost, its once again grown at about 3x its previous rate (its been stunted for awhile). Now, from being behind, its even one of the most advanced in its cycle and easily catching up in height.

There are variations to this process I have done. One was to tape or wrap some twine around the pot after you have cut a line down the entire side, leaving a half inch at the top still connected. Cut the bottom off. Place the pot into the larger pot like the other method, but a little deeper. Cut the very bit of the top still connected, and lift the cut up pot out. Its a lot of work, however this was required when despite many tries, I could not get the plant to come easily out of the pot to transplant.

Obviously this doesnt apply to the poster of the thread...as your not using plastic. As long as you can transplant before flowering, cannabis seems to be prettly resilient. I have even transplanted from a botched hydro setup into soil with success.
