using cfls tl5 ho/54w/840 sodium 2 4' bulbs and 2 4' tl5 ho/54w/865 halide but my sprout will come up then just look like they fall over and die???

Hey Ande...start with a process of eliminating the probable causes.

Also...theres not much sense in using your warmer lights on the sprouts when you've cooler ones available. In the presence of the two colors, younglings will aim at the cooler light for it being the one that is more utilized for vegitative growth.

Are you usung nutes? If so...stop. Sprouts will get all the nutrient they need from what is already present in the soil. Get a different soil and see if you get the same result. Best to start with a soil that has a neutral pH. No adding nutes till they've hit 14 days.

What's the temp of the space? How close are the lights?

So yea, eliminate things that might be having that effect on them so you can pinpoint what exactly it is thats making things wilt over.

And sadly, genetics comes into play. Not all seedlings, even in ideal conditions, live to make it to the vegitative stage. If though this is a consistent occurence, likely theres something negative happening in the environment.

That picture is quite big and blury. That soil almost looks like BArk. As well it looks dry. I believe a seedling should be wet soil or atleast fairly moist. Until it becomes more of a plant say after 2 weeks

82 to 90 degrees and about 8" above seedlings

High ande . i will say its the lights as slowthestone says use the lights that are coolest these will have the blue spectrum the plants need when in seedling stage .If you look at the leaves in the pic they are searching for the correct spectrum . thats why they are facing up like that .When you take out your warm lights move the cool lights to within 2 ionches of the plant.this will stop them streching and falling over like your last one. hope this helps best of luck and be safe . the postman.

it has 4 bulbs all together do ineed to get 2 more blue lights? or just use the 2 i have .when should i put red lights back in???:thumbsup:

another 2 would not go wrong and during the veg period you use the blue spectum,that is under 24/0 or 18/6 and the warm red bulbs during the flowering faze wich is when you turn your lights back to 12/12 this is usualy any time after 21 days veg . hope this helps and be safe.the postman. PS remember and keep the lights as close to the plant without burning the plant.

I think you're trying a little too hard. They are just seedlings. They don't need all those bells and whilstles right now. Just let them get some natural light and they should do fine. You can choose indoors or outdoors. I just dropped one outside in a garden pot (White Widow). It sprouted in less than two days and already has 2 fan leaves and 2 regular leaves. The pot only gets about 2-3 hours of sun. But the natural daylight helps. Also the shade keeps the temps down in the summer. After it looks like a little plant, I will bring it inside and put it under some CFL's.
