    Hey Mello...

I suggest taking that thing back asap. Too much talk between growers and shop owners alike about the Hanna 3in1 pen styled testers losing and or flat out not maintaining a calabration.

I've never heard anything negative about their more typical testers, lots though about those pen styled ones.

I bought one of the new hanna ph meters, the red one. The probe went bad after 4 months. They sent me a replacement free and I didnt even have to return the old one. Luckilly I bought a bluelab truncheon while the hanna was down. The truncheon is the shit. Best probe on the market. it will cost ya though, but I think you will find it well worth it.

I was under the impression Hanna made a pretty good product? Are a lot of people having problems with the probes lasting? I figured them only lasting a few months would be because of improper care...is this true?

I just forked out $100 for the pH/temp meter. Seems to work great right now. Found my pH was nearly a point higher then I thought.

I love my Hanna 4 in 1.....you probably do have the 4 in 1 unit Ph, EC, TDS and temperature. Most people forget the temperature counts too...lol

You do need to have the proper calibration solution but it's easy to calibrate and it holds calibration just fine if you store it properly. It is a scientific tool and should be treated with the respect any scientific tool deserves. The calibration solution 4.0 can double as the storage solution as well. It's good to have their cleaning solution to give it a dip after each use and keep it clean before storage. There should be a small sponge in the bottom of the cap that will keep the tip moist. If the tip dry's out it could damage the unit and tips are about 45 bucks each.

hmm mine didnt come with the little sponge, all i got right now for it is the 7.0 cal, ec cal, and storage solution. Im waiting for them to stock teh 4.0 cal fluid so i can have the 2 point cal feature.

As for storage iv been just keeping the cap liek 1/4 way full...seems to be working just fine.
