Trichomes turning early?
well i've been watching the trichs for some time now and ive noticed that most of them are cloudy now. A few are still clear (mostly on new growth), and a few are turning amber. Also i'm on day 58 of 12/12.
I would think that i should harvest now but she doesnt look like shes done developing her buds. Theres still baby green at the top of the main cola with no trichomes yet. Plus, she still has most of her leaves and the hairs are mostly still white...without looking at the trichs, you would think shes got another 2 weeks atleast...
based on this info... what do you think is the appropriate thing to do?
A) Let her grow and keep watchin her to see if anymore amber trichs pop up.
B) Clip that bitch now even tho the buds arent full yet.
C) Clip only the mature buds with amber trichs on them and leave the ones that are still growing.
God is love.

in my opinion i would rather have more bud with a little less quality then have a little bit of super duper stuff. Its not like if they are a little past ripe it will be bad just a little less good. Thats my opinion.

Lets stop being high and find some weed.

Trichomes turning early?
Something I found:
"The Stichting Institute of Medical Marijuana (SIMM), the first company to sell marijuana through the pharmacies of Holland, has been investigating the medical possibilities of cannabis, together with TNO laboratories and the University of Leiden. One of their discoveries has been that to keep the ripe plants in the dark before harvesting could increase their potency.
SIMM’s growers separated a crop of mature plants, harvested half of them and kept the other half in absolute darkness for 72 hours before cutting and drying. Analysis of the resulting dried buds showed that some varieties had seen an increase of THC of up to 30%, while CBD and CBN remained the same."
So, perhaps this long darkness before harvest theory has some merit, although apparently whether it's beneficial or not is strain-dependent. I'm on day 57 myself, and think I might try the 3-days-of-darkness thing, to see if my strains react favorably. Ironically, because of a power outtage, they've already had 3 days of darkness, around day 30 of flowering. Too bad I couldn't have scheduled that power outtage for this weekend. Heh.

If the Dutch (dudes in Holland) said it...I believe it. They do this for a living...they can't afford to fuck it up....Thanks...Jamstigator.

its been my experience that a period of darkness before harvest is entirely strain specific. To say one strain produced "significently more" THC under darkness doesnt mean every plant will produce more.

That's what they said: "Analysis of the resulting dried buds showed that some varieties had seen an increase of THC of up to 30%..."
Worst case, it doesn't help. Best case, 30% more THC. I'm gonna see if either of my currently-available strains benefits. I'll have to save some buds from when I didn't have the long dark period and see if I can tell any difference. Unfortunately, my only THC testing equipment are my eyes and lungs and brain, and they aren't very accurate, but if I smoke a lot maybe I'll be able to tell if there's a difference. And if I can't, well, I'll be stoned a lot!

Here's some day 57 trich pics. Doesn't look very ready to me, but lemme know if you disagree. They may be behind a bit, since they went 3 days without light or ventilation about 4 weeks ago.
