i think original music is dying or ill
the record companies just stick with the formula that works because it seems that the public is a lot easier fooled now into buying recycled shit. i don't know, there are good bands coming up but the general public doesn't seem to recognize true talent anymore... so whenever a record company does sign a different band, they rarely take off. don't get me wrong i don't hate all new music. theres talent out there (mars volta, Mason Jennings, ummm... newt gingrich's solo album) but not nearly anything like they had in the sixties. I want a musical explosion now damnit!!!!! :stoned: im high

good original music exsits, it just doesn't get signed because record execs don't think it will be profitable in today's corporate rock scene.

also MTV/VH1 could be responsible for this, kids these days are too brainwashed with what society thinks is good music influencing them to be like their "idols" and not letting them, from the start, create original music...

basically what i'm saying. i just hate how we aren't in a musical revolution right now like i feel we could be, because there's plenty of creativity in this world, it's just not getting a loud enough voice to the public. i remember the 90's grunge scene and how everything was always progressing and then, when clearchannel bought out all the radiostations, we hit a brick wall.... fuckin viacom. If emo doesn't go away soon, i'm moving to brazil were i hope it won't follow. and if i see some fucker in tight pants and eyeliner... i'm turning 28 days later on them... after 28 days of course

Paris Hilton is finally being given a reason to be famous by making a record. As I said you need zero musical talent to be big, they alter your voice endlessly in the studio then slap your pretty face on the cover

Growing up in the 60's-70's all I have to say is most of what comes out of my radio is SCHWAG!!! Nothing new as far as sound goes. in the 70's bands were willing to go out on a limb and experment with sound. nowdays no one seens to want to try!!
Could you inmagine what Jimi Hendricks,Janis Joplin,Brian Jones,Jim Morrison or any one of a dozen folk could do with todays technology, mixing boards, computers ect?? The thought crosses my mind what Hendricks would doing now.
We also have ClearChannel,Westwood One and other Radio megacorps to thank for things like "Lady Lumps and Junk in my Trunk"

most stuff today is either MTV pop, some spin off of pop punk (i.e. screamo or "emo" as its called, even though technically its not), or it's something so experimental (noisy, chaotic, bad vocals) that it sucks. i gave up on new bands since they all sound relatively the same or try too hard to sound "different" [bad]. i mostly just listen to stuff that's been around a while. i'll take pantera over any shitty new band any day.

If I were to grow cannabis, I would only do so to supply myself and my close friends. Doing this would take myself and my friends out of harms way by knowing the source of our cannabis, as well as take hundreds of thousands of dollars off the black market annually. It would also lower the demand of black market cannabis, and would ultimately help keep cannabis out of the hands of minors.[/SIZE]

I don't see anything changing in the music world ever. As long as people don't care who makes the song, as long as it sounds good, then we'll keep going down the same path. People act like the 60's were full of musical gods, but they were just lucky to get in on the early pop-push. Not saying they weren't talented, but pop music is pop music no matter what it sounds like. Bands that are popular are gonna get the most money. Ohh well that's life.
