    My Grow Cabinet... Almost Done.....

This is my grow cabinet it is almost done. Thought I would post it for peeps to see.

    Dimensions 60 x 30 x 17" (152 x 76 x 43 cm)
    Top is a T5 2ft Balast 4 bulbs 2000 lummes each 2 warm 2 cool.
Bottom Is the HOme depot Route. 27W CFL Plan to have 6 total.
Top has a 5 " Computer style fan and the bottom has 2 5" Computer style fans
    105Cfm fans. 30bucks each

The temps right now stay around the same as the outside of the box. I got real messed up when I didn't make the Air intake hole big enough it was staying so hot inside and I couldn't figure out why. SO I installed another fan and It didn't fix it. I didn't notice untill I felt the back of the fans with the doors open. With the doors open the fans blew loads of air across my hand and then when I closed the doors I could feel barly any. SO I open up the intake hole and now it runs cool.

Could anyone help out with how big the intake hole should be compared to the size of your fan? Is it a 1 to 1 kinda thing? 5" hole for fan so you should have a 5" hole for intake?

So I have 2 fans in bottom Im sure one day I will need that other fan for somthing anyways.

I am planning on growing LST style plants with haveing a continmous cycle going. I will see how it works out as I am a new grower.

I am happy with how this turned out so far I just have to stop the light leaks at the back of the box now. I need to cove rthe holes for the fans and the intake. But still allow lots of air to move through anyone have any ideas? I thought of making cardboard and duct tape things but think there might be a better solution.

Its a good size box for a Downtown Apartment and My Gf doen't totally hate it cuz you can't totally tell what it is.

any opinions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    More picts to come.

for good passive intakes look up Dark Room Louvers on google. They are used to allow air in dark rooms for phatography. Get one or two 8 in louvers. They will allow no light in. They run for about $20 a shot.
Other than that you are off to a good start.

Actually the size of the intake does not have to be twice the size of the fan.

If you want a higer velocity of air to move into the cabinet and give it a slight breeze make the intake about the same size as the fan.

If you want the air to move through more slowly then make the intake bigger.

Either way the intake will flow that same volume of air just at different velocities, as long as you don't make the intake to small.

Same concept with car engines that's why 4 valves are better than 2 they flow more velocity into the cylinder.

    Good Tips

Yeah thats kinda what I was thinking. Right now I have 2 fans with one intake hole about the size of one of the Fans holes. I think I may make it slightly bigger, Or just use the second fan HOle as an Intake hole.

because right now If I only turn one Fan on and close the doors the Air pressure is enough to make the Fan that isn't turned on Spin fairly fast. So I think I may make my intake hole a bit bigger and run both fans?

    What do you guys think?

thanks for all the help guys

    Greatly appreciated.

hope thsi thread helps others!! I wish I posted this before I bought all thoise fans. Ohh well More movment is better anyways
