Xanax / Paxil Question

I was wondering how many mg's of xanax people are taking to get fucked up? Also can you mix a low dosage xanax pill with weed? Im talking only .25mg of xanax for my anxiety 3 times daily and am concered about smoking pot while on the pill. One more thing, my doctor is talking about putting me on paxil instead of xanax. Is Paxil bad in anyways, and can you smoke while on Paxil? Thanks.

Paxil would be less to worry about than xanax for sure. It isnt in the same class as xanax. I am on paxil and I smoke all the time on it and there isnt any problems, just helps it work better I think. I wouldnt worry about xanax with bud either, only xanax with alcohol.

I was surfing and saw this post and HAD to responed. I felt it was so important to get in touch with you that I had to register here and wait a day. I hope I am not too late. Paxil is a very dangerous antidepressant. I would worry about Paxil a lot. DO NOT TAKE IT. If you are treating anxiety, Paxil is a stimulant to some and may (or may not) make your condition worse. Paxil is highly addictive contrary to its advertising claims. (Commercial was taken off the air cuz it's been proven false claims.) Punch in words Paxil and lawsuit on net. There are currently 30,000 people in a class action suing for horrible suffering they experienced from what is called withdrawal syndrome. It is six times stronger than any antidepressant on market. I simply cut my pill in half as instructed because the small dose I was on had me exhausted and laying in bed 17 hours a day. Some people, not all, experience hellacious symptoms and go completely nuts trying to stop taking it even after just one day of no pill. Unfortunately, I am one of those people and ended up in a pysch ward at a state hospital (scary shit). I was a nervous wreck for four months straight and got DXed as bipolar (very popular label nowadays). Stay away from antidepressants altogether if possible. Use the benzos (Xanax, etc) and only as needed. Sure, benzos are addictive but at least you are calm. There is no worse pill hell than Paxil withdrawal. I hope you read this and I am not too late. If you are taking it Please whatever you do don't stop taking it abrubtly. You must wean down. I hope my posting this will help at least one person out there somewhere. I seriously would not recommend Paxil to my enemies. Women are more prone to problems with this evil drug. Please please please anyone reading this don't ever take paxil and tell others who are thinking about taking it. I'm not saying antidepressants are bad. They are, however, a lifetime decision. You either take them every day "for the rest of your life" is what a lot of doctors say. some say take til you feel better and wean off. So many people claim their lives are better from ADs, but I do believe exercise, diet, and mega vitamins are the better route. For anxiety take anxiety stuff. And, Hey Everyone, don't listen to doctors. They are getting paid big money from the drug companies to say these things and they don't even know cuz they never took the crap. They are in it for the money. Take it from someone who has been there and done that. Doctors don't know what they are talking about a lot of time. Get a second opinion and use your judgment. The theory in mental health with antidepressant and pyschotropics is "there's no going back." Supposedly once you start you can't stop cuz your mind is altered and you have to "keep trying till you find the right medicine." It's a huge crock of shit. Don't buy into it, please. The ultimate government plan is for everyone to be on welfare and taking meds and keeping those goverment jobs filled with all the workers it takes to "help" out people having problems who seek help, not the mention how rich the this makes those drug companies.
I know this is a bit extreme of a post but a lot of you are young and I don't want you to learn these things the hard way like I did. I do not take medications at all since that God-awful Paxil experience. I thought I would never work or be sane again. I have tripped before and I can tell you I felt like I was on acid for that whole four months, paranoia as well, extremely delusional and unable to sleep for 12 days straight at a time and it took a very long time til i was able to sleep thru the nite like I used to. You get the pic. Well, I am fine now and I do work and drive, which I was told I would never do again, and now I will stick to my buds and booze, which is what I wished so badly I had done in the first place, what the mental health field calls self-medicating. I wish I had just gotten a script for Xanax in first place and none of this would have happened. I just hope I can get some money off the lawsuit to recover four months off work. So sad that they won't get money off me now that I'm back to self-medicating, isn't it?

ok, i read the above post, but i still decided to take 3, 20mg paxils last nite
and today when i woke up i felt like shit, but then i started tripping, and then i took a shower, and before i got in the shower, my lower jaw wouldnt stop chattering, like when u are cold, except like 100 miles an hour, and so all day today, my jaw has been chattering up and down hella fast, sometiems it stops, ive been trying to control it but its hard, i try n just put a pen in my mouth so my teeth dont bang against each other too hard...

i wish i wouldnt have taken them paxils. can any1 help me out, how do i get this shit out of my system, is my jaw going to be like this permanately? please help!!!!!!

the chattering finally went away the next day, but all day long my jaw chatted out of control style, like i was a fuckin tweaker or something, im never taking paxil again, i guess that shit fucks u up for days, n not in a good way. peace

I am very disappointed to hear that you decided to take paxil for a buzz after reading my post. Antidepressants should NEVER ever been used in this manner. They are really strong and stay in your blood and affect your thinking and physical side for many, many weeks or even months are you try to stop taking them..


I CANNOT BELIEVE anyone who read this post would take them in such a manner. What I would suggest now is that you never take Paxil again or any antidepressants for that matter. Let it wear off. Take a sleeping pill if you are unable to sleep. It WILL wear off. It could take awhile as you took such a large dosage though. That was really, really stupid of you. That dose is so high even a doctor wouldn't give it to anyone. Don't get doctors involved now though. A doctor would want to start you on a whole med routine taking various pills "to fix" whatever the Paxil made happen to you and that would start the med-go-round for yet another unsuspecting young person. The system would try to tell you you have chemical imbalances and other such BS because of the reaction you had and that you need meds and they will find the right one. Don't get involved in that.

I am sure you will feel all kinds of physical symptoms for a few more days. It takes several days to enter your bloodstream all the way and even longer to come out. PLEASE..... anyone reading this PLEASE don't take it. There is a major lawsuit for people suffering from withdrawal as it is a very addictive drug that creates a hellacious withdrawal syndrome. Flush the rest of those damn Paxil !!!! These kinds of pills are NO FUN..

I am glad I read all that stuff on this post now. I have been on paxil for about a year and I am definately going to quit taking them. Thankfully I havent had terrible problems for the most part. I cant understand how my psychiatrist tells me smoking is so bad but puts me on paxil which has obviously quite a few more side effects. Thanks for the info.

VERY IMPORTANT:

You must wean down slowly, not just stop taking it suddenly. The withdrawal is very rough and you will feel like you may feel like you are losing it, but some people have no problems quitting taking it. I sure hope you are one of those.

Your doc may not want you to quit taking it or may try to get you to switch to some other kind of antidepressant. Just make careful decisions and look up info. (some) Docs are trying to help but just don't know how it feels to be on these kinds of pills.

It is never NEVER NEVER wise to quit taking any kind of mind-altering prescription drug suddenly, so at least talk to doc about how to "wean down" off of these. If Paxil is helping you out, then don't stop taking them cuz of my posts. Every person is different, but, yes, it is so hard to believe that docs are so against reefer and their precious pills are so much more dangerous. Good Luck!

Well, luckily I have a appointment with my psych. in just a few weeks. I will keep it safe and stay on it for now and then ask about it when I am at the appoint. I figure if I havent had horrible adverse effects what is waiting a few more weeks to talk about it. Thanks for all the info.

Hey, let me know what your shrink says when you mention your concerns. I have a burning curiosity. I have a lot of experience and knowledge about these kind of things and will tell you whether you've got a good doc or a medicine man/woman based on the response they give you. Let me know.
