Definitely not in five years. It doesn't matter if the Democrats control the government or the Republicans, they're both vehemently anti-drugs (except the legal ones like tobacco and alcohol of course). The US probably won't let up on weed until damn near the entire industrialized world has. I'd say there's a pretty good chance it will be legalized or at least widely tolerated in Western Europe in the next 10-20 years, and maybe Canada too depending on how much they're willing to defy the US government. After that I would guess that Japan, Australia and New Zealand would be next, then maybe the American government might feel enough pressure to give in and legalize it too. But I estimate it will take a good 40-50 years at least before that happens.
