First time experiences and questions (Long)

Hi everyone.. this being my second post, and I apologize for the lame name I've chosen lol.. but I'd like to let you all in on my first experience(s) with pot, and ask some questions later.

Ok, well my story is a tale of 5 days, almost consecutively, of smoking. I guess you can say I ended up gradually doing more during the last days, but it still leaves me wondering if I'd even done enough.

First day, I'm with my friend, and this will be my first time smoking. (Smoking anything, actually). We're sitting in the living room, and my chest is hurting as it is, because it does this when I don't sleep much, and I hadn't sleep more than a few hours in the last two nights. She shows me the pipe, which is the first one I think I've ever come this close to in person, hehe, and I was surprised at the small amount of weed that goes in there (silly me, I thought the bowl was way bigger). So, she lights up, and then my chest hurts a little, combined with my heart still beating rapidly, and I tell her I don't think I can do this now. I was scared, because I'd read that smoking it can quadruple your chance of a heart attack, and I was already wondering if maybe I had some kind of undiagnosed heart condition.

But it turned out that I didn't need to smoke anything to be affected - I think I got a contact high, because I started laughing a little, and I went up to the mirror, and my eyes were red! Something I didn't expect. Finally I smoked a little.. I coughed, but it was more of a forced cough. I don't know how much I got in, but I didn't feel much different than normal (btw my normal state is a bit spacy, for some reason), other than coming down the stairs and being a little disoriented.

Next day, we did some more, but I hardly did anything. And if I did, I again don't think I inhaled properly. So needless to say, no reaction.

Third day.. I think this was when I finally started to feel some real effects. I got the feeling that my feet were implanted into the ground, like it was hard to move them and gravity was pushing them heavily downward. I couldn't even stand straight and had to hold myself up. I didn't like this feeling though, so it gave me energy to want to go do something, to "fight off" this feeling, as I believed it would. So I started walking/running/whatever, to get rid of it. I came back and ended up literally pushing myself back and forth in a chair in the same position for what was probably a half hour. I sat myself in front of the radio too, but I was having a hard time each time figuring out where the buttons were to play the CD. And I just kinda sat there and stared at it. But the music didn't sound all good and beautiful like people say it's supposed to. I didn't really feel it much at all. Also, I found myself dancing in place for what seemed like the same length of time I pushed around that chair. I think this was the most significant thing it did for me, the most rewarding, should I say - that it left me a lot more uninhibited than I normally would be. Also, I found myself sticking my hand into the chip bag and eating them for awhile, but I didn't feel hungry. I felt no munchies. I felt nothing, none of this great stuff I was supposed to feel.

Fourth day. I had decided that maybe I wasn't getting the same feelings as most people did because I wasn't inhaling properly. I vowed to do it right this time, and I had a plan that I knew would work. I decided that this time, I would hold my nose. Then, there would be no chance of it not going in. So I did it, and boy was I right. I was coughing (and not forcing it out), for a few minutes afterwards. Then my throat hurt, and I started to feel a little shaky. Well, the combination of my throat hurting and being nervous to me felt like I was going to throw up. To make things worse, I sat down to watch tv and I felt dizzy. I had to get up and do something to make this feeling go away, or else I was afraid I'd be sick. So again, I find myself walking..

I walked outside down the street, and I started to feel better. However, this wasn't an unknown feeling to me. Like I said before, I always feel a little out of it to begin with, and I was hoping that pot would kind of help me to "snap out of" that feeling. But actually, it just made it worse. It was just like I was in a cloud or something, just not there at all. I was walking, and when I got to a sign, it reminded me of one I'd seen in another city, and then I started feeling like I was in that other city. Luckily I hadn't strayed far from the house, and I was able to turn around and go back. I felt better now, with some fresh air, but had to go out a few more times and dragged my friends with me. It was funny, because I couldn't keep up with them.. I was at least 10 feet behind them at all times, falling to the left, and I was extending my arms out to them for some reason.. and when I finally would catch up, I'd just want to hold onto them and hug them. So it was definitely working.

But still,no positive effects. None negative either.. just neutral. The music sounded distorted, and I had some slight delusions, but nothing was overly beautiful. No munchies either, actually, the opposite, I didn't even want to eat.

By the 5th day, I did some more.. some before we went out, and then more later on. But still, no otherworldly experiences I was hoping for. The biggest effect I had today was that I was just soo tired. It was as if I hadn't slept in days. And something else is that, for some reason, the whole left side of me felt paralyzed. Just the left side though. I just sat there and couldn't move. And, I could feel it in my brain, but only on the left side. But I was so sleepy, all I wanted to do was go to bed, and wear it off.

A few days later, I still felt slightly out of it. My friend said it should wear off in a few hours, but it took some days till I completely felt better again.

So that is my experience, and my questions are.. well, I read that in small doses, you feel tired. Does that mean if I had done a larger dose, I would have gotten the full effect? Or would I have just become so tired that I would have passed out right there? Also, why did only the left side of me feel like that, and is it normal to feel it in your brain? I'm sure it is, but no one else has ever described it to me like that before. I do have some conditions, like a little depression and OCD is my biggest mental ailment.. I know it didn't help the OCD. But I feel like I have to keep on experimenting to find that special dose, or scenario, or whatever, where I will finally feel what everyone else does. Or, do you think it just doesn't work on me for some reason?

Thanks to whoever got all the way through this.

Everyone, and their brain chemistry, is different. Your story depresses me.
Maybe pot isn't for you. However, maybe you should give it one more chance.
Be in a good mood, somewhere you feel the most comfortable, and safe. Smoke a lot more. It's possible that this strain or quality of weed just isn't the right one for you.
    Are you on any medications?

A lot of new smokers have this whole incredible idea of what it feels like to be stoned, before they actually do it. This may be directly influencing your high. The best way to really feel it, is to almost forget that you're doing anything mind-altering at all.

How old are you? I'm going to guess around 12 and are a girl, but I could be wrong. You are probably a.) probably smoking shitty weed b.) are zonked out before you even start because you are nervous which happens a lot c.) are extremely add. I recommend you try it again somewhere that is familiar to you, where you feel safe, and when you are in a generally good mood. Play some happier music. This might not be the best of advice for you but I would recommend having maybe 1 or 2 drinks before hand to ease the tension. Remember, if you don't enjoy the effects of it, THEN NOBODYS FORCING YOU TO DO IT. Weed makes you dumb anyway, if you use it everyday that is.

It really does sound like you're expecting too much and are too tense when you smoke. The fact that you are able to document your experience in such detail kind of points to that. The first time I smoked I was nervous and tense and was expecting a lot and was thinking about all the things I'd heard about smoking weed and getting high-- and I ended up not getting high worth a damn. Next time, just relax. Don't think about chronicling what it feels like. Just try to relax, hang out with close friends, watch one of your favorite tv shows or a movie. Just relax.

    Thanks everyone for the input.

I will agree that I'm a tense person and tend to overthink things a lot. So you're all right about that. But it's just my nature to overanalyze things, I don' think there's much I can do about that.

Ok, to answer all the questions/comments here.

I didn't just take one hit. The first and second day I didn't do much, but by the fourth day I took at least five hits, the first one being the biggest. The last day I did the same amount both before and after I went out. So that was twice as much. So yeah, I did get it in me, and I WAS feeling something. I just wasn't feeling as pleasurable as people say you feel. But I definitely felt it, I mean something was obviously happening in me.

I was nervous about it, but I was in a comfortable setting with good friends anyway. No, I'm not 12, I hope I shouldn't be ashamed of that. I did hold the smoke in for a few seconds, and I did use a pipe.

I guess the bottom line is that everything affects people differently. It's not like I didn't have it in me, because I could barely move or walk up the steps, I was slurring my words and couldn't even walk in a straight line, and I was so incredibly tired that all I wanted to do was sleep for a few days. I guess I just had some effects but not all - not the ones that I wanted or expected. It's ok to laugh at me, I expected it, heh.
