7 foot plant - 1 oz yield?
A friend of mine said he grew a plant years ago which was nearly 7 feet tall but yielded about 3/4 an ounce of dried bud. It was grown in a closet with flourescent light, looked healthy and yielded decent crystally bud. That's all I know about it. So out of curiosity, I told him I'd post it here to get opinions.
So my questions are - Has this happened to anyone else here and how is that possible? Is it just because the light is so crappy?MidnightToker54 Reviewed by MidnightToker54 on . 7 foot plant - 1 oz yield? 7 foot plant - 1 oz yield?
It could be that he didnt let it flower long enough or cause he didnt have enough fluros, but ive heard of people using fluros and only yeilding an ounce but just not on that big of a plant.

7 foot plant - 1 oz yield?
my friend consistently gets about 3/4 to 1 ounce from his fluro plants. Its not as firm as what I see with HPS but he kept the lights super close, nice ventillation. They get topped, about 3-4 weeks of veg, and 7-8 flowering. Cant remember the ferts but they are an organic, aparantly cant burn. These plants are about 1.5 feet tall and equally wide.
There could be tons of factors, but I would bet on not enough light that is not close enough, irregular lighting, the wrong kind of trimming, or the wrong amount of flowering.
For reference, I have seen a few 5 foot indoor plants that produced 1/4 to a half pound each. Not to discourage your friend, but sounds like the environment wasnt ideal.

7 foot plant - 1 oz yield?
Yeah most likely he didnt have proper lighting for a 7ft plant. Ask ur "friend" how much real wattage(not energy savings wattage) he used to flower this plant and how many weeks he had it in flower(12/12)?

7 foot plant - 1 oz yield?
Seems like mighty low yield. I grew a couple of small 2-foot plants early this year, and got 5 ounces of bud and an ounce of leaf from them. Hard to believe he got less than one ounce from a plant taller than me. Something was seriously not right.

The buds must have been so fluffy.

7 foot plant - 1 oz yield?
I would imagine that it was just the kind of plant he was growing...but if it had crystals on it, I'm sure it was decent smoke and I wouldn't be that dissappointed. Pretty much free.

7 foot plant - 1 oz yield?
Like I said, I don't have many details about that grow, but I figured I would throw the story out there for comments.
The first thought I had was that he harvested too early but he said the bud was crystally so the low yield wasn't only because of that.
And I always heard flourescents were so bad but someone posted pictures of 2.5 ounces of bud from one plant grown under florescent light.

7 foot plant - 1 oz yield?
ive got a 190cm hydro plant (not in a cabinet or anything) and its been budding now for almost 2-3months and it looks as tho the yeild ill get will be quite small, my plant has been through alot tho (spider mights, no water pump for 2 months, inconsistant temp and PH and irregular lighting) but i think the main factor is that most of the light wont reach the bottom half of the plant (unless u have lights on the side) anyway, just my cents. its just not efficient to grow a plant that big.
