PRE MIX SOIL OR MIX MY OWN???????

This will be my second attempt at growing first one was ok. Alot of learning. I was wondering what everyones opinion is about soil mediums?

Should I mix my own or buy store made soil And if so what should the NPK of the soil be at? so I dont over add nutrients?

Should I mix 1/3 Perlite 2/3 Coco? and Dolomite Lime for balancing

Or go 1/3 PeatMoss 1/3 Perlite 1/3 Varmiculite (as seen in High times video Ready Set grow) Should I add Lime to this Mix? Or will its Ph be ok?

Or buy Store made soil. Any brand?

What sort of mixes are you guys using?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

PRE MIX SOIL OR MIX MY OWN???????

    CHOICE #1...

Go to a garden center or real garden materials shop and look for PRO-MIX.

    CHOICE #2...

GO to store and buy Scotts Potting Soil.

Both will deliver the foundation for spectacular results.

After using those soil mediums, would you still need to feed the plant regulary?

PRE MIX SOIL OR MIX MY OWN???????

Yes I believe you would as Pro Mix from waht I read has no nutrients in it at all.

    And Scotts potting soil have 0.14- 0.14 - 0.14 (I believe)

Could anyone with more experience clear this up Im sure many people would love to know.

thanks for the help so far though Now I know exactly what I am looking for. All the store keep trying to puch COCO on me. I found the Coco to stay wet for so long long enough that I felt my plants stayed water logged in my first grow.

Yeah, first the plant extracts all the nutrients thats in the soil so later down the line your gonna have to supply the plant with more nutrients to continue to thrive for growth.

Thanks for all the help guys...

I was told to stay away from anything with the title Scotts miricle Grow on the bag. I assume those are experienced expert growers. or perhaps organic growers/ I will be looking for PRO Mix and I think I will try a half and Half

6 with Pro Mix and 6 with Scotts Miricle Grow Potting Soil. AND see the diffrent results.

perhaps I will Log my experment for all to see

    Thansk again

Scotts does not contain miracle grow. At least not Scotts regular potting soil.

I prefer the PRO MIX....it does have enuff nutrients in to feed a baby for 4 weeks...no doubts.

It is very airy and very pourous...Scotts is damn good soil too.

This grow was 50% PRO MIX - 50% Scotts potting soil blended together with lava rocks at the base.

Hey HARDDON, if you remember me, my old user name here was called " mosaka " (my email got hacked so i cant recover the password ) and at that time, you helped me alot through my problems i had with mg. My plants got nute burned at the age of 2 days in seedling :'( I think that was just my bad luck :'(

    Be warned about MG.

[ p.s. HARDDON , add me on msn/icq , i wanna know how your " first sog " ended up? I didnt read the end of the post and i cant find it again ]

Pro mix is very low in any newt value and there two different types that are mainly used for MJ, HP and BX I believe, depending on which one you go with you may have to add D lime to help maintain the PH and you do need to feed plants with additives more frequently with Promix, but it can work very well, most people use it in what you call a soilless mix, it is boarder line hydro. For good results IMO I would look for the Fox Farm Ocean soil which some use all the way threw a grow with no additives, but it is best when used with the Fox Farm additives, Big Grow, Big Bloom and Tiger Bloom. Right now I am using Black Gold Potting soil which many folks go with as a matter of fact I think I saw a post by Garden Knome stating that he uses it and loves it. My mix is 75% BG and 25% perlight with SuperThrive, Liquid Karma and when I go to flower I think that I will use FF's Big bloom. The good thing about Black Gold is that most stores carry it.

PRE MIX SOIL OR MIX MY OWN???????

Thanks for all the help guys...

I believe the Scotts line of products in Canada carry the miricle grow label on them.

    http://www.scottscanada.ca/index.cfm...ct/Potting.Mix

    Fertilizer Grade: 0.14-0.14-0.14

This soil is extreamly easy to get espically having no car.

I am able to get Pro Mix Bx for 14.99 for a 2.7sq foot bag Ph balanced. (Is that a good price or decent price? shaddy shop)

Do I want soil with no nutrients in it 0-0-0 so I can control all the nutrients that the plant recieves? Or is it simply Miricle Grow is garbage fertilizer?

If I go with ProMix I will have to make sure there is nutrients in the water at all times Correct? starting with a small bit and working my way up? I am nervous just thinking about having to do that.

    Thanks all
