    Permababy - Please Help

My friend has a plant he has been nurturing for 3 weeks but it hasn't grown at all.

    He uses a mix of
    50% perlite
    25% vermiculite
    25% peat moss

It sprouted after 2 days and basically hasn't changed since. He found it on top of the soil and had to take emergency measures to poke a hole and get the root back in the mix. He waters it twice daily with a spray bottle and distilled water. He takes it outside in the morning to get sun and brings it in at night. It's still alive, as you can see.

Does it need nutrients now? He sprinkled a tiny bit of organic fert around it about 5 days ago. After this amount of time it should go in the soil, but normally it would be a lot bigger. Shouldn't the root hairs have healed by now?

Wow. He wasn't sure at first that it was the right plant, but then he convinced himself it had to be.

He thanks you for the heads up so he doesn't waste anymore time tending to this _real_ weed that somehow infiltrated the seed area and ended up on top of the soil. The real seed never germinated.

My friend pinched the seed and it squirted out a bunch of water and there was basically nothing else inside. Definitely immature or otherwise bad.

Could you tell it wasn't herb because the cotyledons weren't round enough?
