There is actually a concept in chemistry called Entropy. Entropy is the measure of disorder in the universe (it's a lot more complicated to explain, but the aforementioned is just a basic synopsis.)

Basically, as time increases (or passes) entropy increases. Everything initially starts out new, such as a new car, but after you buy the car and start driving it, it slowly starts to break down and wear apart. This concept can be applied to anything (almost) and it makes sense. In chemistry, the only substance that is not disorderly, is a perfect crystal at absolute zero. Kinda cool =)
