Honey Bud! A Great Way To Utilize Dry Old Buds and Honey.

Anyone tried or made Honey Bud?

It is something I have been obtaining for medical purposes for awhile, but never made myself. I finally bit the bullet and made some. It came out wonderful.

Honey Bud, as it sounds, is bud covered in hash oil. The simple way to do this would be to just cover a bud in some thin hash oil. Thats great. However, literally dipping/soaking/cooking the honey oil into the bud will provide a far different end result. Instead of a coating around the outside, the entire bud is soaked all the way through. It provides a great medium to ease the smoking of hash oil, and the potency (depending on the oil of course) for me has always been out of this world. Something I only use on special occasions.

My favorite part about this process, is that its a great way to use any bud you may have laying around that is old or very dry. Start with a large amount (its up to you but I used about 15-20 grams) of some good hash oil. I dont use anything with any green in it; golden or brown. I used a small propane burner and a small metal cup, heated the oil into the cup, and slowly heated it until its consistency became thinner. Its a very thin line between optimum tempature and starting to burn. I then use some thin tweezers to effectively stick a bud under the steaming hash oil for anywhere from 10 seconds to a whole minute. I then take each bud out and set it in my freezer on a cookie sheet that is already cold. In there for about 30 seconds. Another few minutes and they are almost hard as a rock. When I am done, there is usually a good bit of hash oil left and by now I have turned down the stove. I heat the stove up a little again, get everything a little smoother, and then pour it back into the glass, then use a little spatula to get everything in there. At that heat, it flows pretty easy. Just remember to watch out when you pour it out of your saucer thing. The sides of it can get very hot quickly and burn your oil on the way out! Dont ask me how I know!

If you have very thick hash oil, then you might consider cutting it with something to help thin it out. We went for a thin but good oil from the beginning but if you get that good temp it will thin out a lot anyways. Be careful. Too thin and it burns.

My local dispensary sells this for $40 a gram. A gram lasts me about 2-3 weeks depending on the pain. A little bit here, a tiny bit there. Its especially great when your low on the green stuff. It can make a bowl seem 3x as big in effect. The taste, of course depending on the oil, but for me it is amazing and different then just smoking some oil on top of a nug.

Feel free to use really good stuff for this. I use high grade that sat around to long and got dry, and dry seems to suck it up a little better, but fresher stuff still works great and tastes even better. Finally, this is a great way to preserve. Kept airtight, this stuff will last for a long time and stay gooey inside.

PS. For medical purposes only.
