    Life Insurance Testing...

OK, so I've been lurking on these boards for a week or so. I've found some great information but not sure of the best route for me to take. I'm hoping I can get some kind help from people on these boards. Here goes. . .

I am 33 years old, 5'10" and weigh 250 (former college football player). I have a physical scheduled on August 15th for a Life Insurance policy. They are coming to my house to take blood and urine. I scheduled the appointment for 6PM at night and it will have been 19 days since I last smoked. I've smoked approx. a 1/2 oz a week for a few years.

Medically, I have high blood pressure and high cholesterol and take medication for each. For this reason, I'm thinking that switching urine is not the best tact for me since the company knows I should have these drugs in my system.

What is my best course of action here? Should I take some type of drink (which one); should I drink lots of water; should i start excercising (I don't currently); should i take vitamins or creatine etc?

Anything specific i should know about life insurance testing vs. other testing discussed on this board?

    Please, please please help...

Do not take a detox drink. Call a collection facility or surf the net and find out what "control drugs" are. According to another board that I visit, stuff like antibiotics, ADD medications, and other types of prescribed medications are not ferreted out on the typical EMIT 5 or 10 panel test. Also, tests have been modified so that otc pain medications like ibuprofen and cold or cough medications, do not register as a "false positive."

There's a good chance that the medications you are on for cholesterol and blood pressure are not on the list of control drugs.

Don't know how many days you are clean, but keep abstaining. Pot leaves the blood stream within 24-48 hours. I'd sub. Don't let these jerks come into the bathroom with you to observe (they probably won't). If they do, refuse the test and call your school. Tell them you can't pee with people watching you and buy yourself some extra time.

Since your test isn't until 8/19, test yourself in the meantime. With your level of activity, you might already test clean on a home test.

    Life Insurance Testing...

I will have been free of puffing for 19 days when I have the life insurance physical at my home. Is this enough time for me to be clear?

Please, someone tell me the best method to use to dilute or should I buy a drink to take?

blood testing? good luck with that one. Insurance companies aren't your typical drug screening; they want to know exactly what kind of person they are insuring and charge them appropriatley, so this is going to be harder than your typical pre employment/random testing ordeal.

Having said that, it probably won't matter if you have low creatine/specific gravity levels from dillution because they aren't trying to bust you so don't bother wasting money on a drink.

But you can't dillute your blood very effectively, so if they are testing that for drugs too then your best bet is to exercise heavly until a few days before test, and drink water for the urine. Maybe asprin will help, worth a try.

    Life Insurance Testing...

From what I've read, THC does not stay in blood stream longer than a few days, so with 19 days off I should be clear with that.

I am most concerned with the best course of action for the urine test. I plan to drink gallons of water as well as take the vitamin B. Since the test is at 6PM they won't get my first urine of the day. I will have pee'd many times before.

Other suggestions specific to Life Insurance tests would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

    Life Insurance Testing...

Good news -- Life Insurance rep called today and said that she needed to reschedule my test from August 15th to August 24th. It buys me 9 more days to get clean. So, I'll test at 28 days without smoking (I can't remember going this long). Again, I am 5' 10" and weigh 250 lbs... will dilution be sufficient to clear (no pun intended) this test after 28 days smoke free?

    Life Insurance Testing...

I went through this recently and I simply asked what they were testing for.

IT IS NOT A DRUG TEST. They are testing for AIDS. They could care less if you get high. What they don't want is someone to take the home OraSure AIDS test, that person then finds out they have AIDS, then they take out a multi-million dollar policy. This is fraud and the insurance company needs to protect themselves from fraud.

In the old days when a doctor notified you that you were infected there was a public record for the insurance company to review. I know what some of you are thinking, No your medical records ARE NOT private, you signed away that right of privacy when you applied for the insurance. (read the fine print on the application)

Best of luck with the test!
