I dont know what kind of a fetish people have for monotheism. Sure, its very neat and nice pick all the glorious theories to believe in, in which case you will be surrounded by eternal white light when you die, and that everything about afterlife is so goddamn positive, and that its permanent. Monotheist is fucked up, if you ask me.
Also, i dont know why everyone thinks life has a "meaning". Sure, its logical for existance to be continual, yes, but what the fuck implies that life has a meaning? It may mean something to you or me, but i dont think there is a divine reasoning behind existance. And even if so, what do you need the meaning for?

just to spin this thread in a different direction:
As an individual, you gained a small understanding of God sometime after you were born. How did you gain this understanding? Someone had to tell you. Someone had to say that God exists in some form or another. So where DOES God exist? The only place that you can be sure God exists is in your own mind. And in my opinion, that is the only place that counts. If I believed in the ALMIGHTY LASER-SHOOTING TURTLE TANK OF DOOM and I believed that it wanted me to do good with my life, isnt that enough? If the ALMIGHTY LASER-SHOOTING TURTLE TANK OF DOOM made me happy, isnt that enough? Why should you ask someone else to believe in your religion? Or to not believe in some other religion? Why is it bad to attempt to interpret God's desires? If you believe that God has a plan, then it would be your duty to try to understand his plan because he is your God!
Believing that God has no plan is wonderful. Believing that his plan is secret is also wonderful. It is also wonderful that some people believe that it is a sin to try to interpret God's plans with "feeble human minds". There are a thousand billion Gods ruling Earth, there is one God ruling Earth, there are no Gods ruling Earth... whatever. None of it matters. Just be happy about being alive and be thankful that food is only a short distance away. It really is that easy...you CAN choose to be happy. If people can learn to be happy, no one will ever try to sin again.

Oooh, you cain't rollerskate in a buffalo herd..you cain't rollerskate in a buffalo herd! Aaah, but you can be happy!
Very good point Onion! Yeah, it's a silly little song...but with a most profound message. Life can be a misery but happiness can be a choice. The people who make prozac don't want you to know that

although this whole topic is interesting i think Abe Lincoln put it best, "When I do good, I feel good; when I do bad, I feel bad, and that is my religion."
