:rasta: ive just germinated my 1st 5 weed plants ive put them in s shallow container root down about 0.5cm under the serface. i need a uv light or a light suitable to grow weed in wer do i buy them from and can u buy ones tht run of bateries and how much are they? any help apreciated:rasta:

cheapest route is compact fluorescents. Go towal-mart or home depot and get some higher wattage cfl's with an output in the 1600 lumen region. (I think that's the highest wal-mart has) Make sure that they're the cool light kind (6500k). The ideal situation is the more light the merrier, but you can get away with 5 or so for a while. After a bit you'll need more light if you want a good yield. I think those bulbs are like $7 apiece. I don't know of any that run off batteries( but then again I haven't been in the growing field for very long) but you can get the halo reflectors that plug into a wall socket.

I agree, read as much as you can. I found the cheapest way to go High intensity discharge (for the most/best bud) was to get it from here: http://www.1000bulbs.com/product.php?product=468. (depending on your wattage, but thats a good site). Then I just got a HPS and a MH conversion bulb (cheapest- http://www.plantlightinghydroponics....ducts_id=1772). Just wire up the ballast yourself using http://www.onlinepot.org/grow/wiringlights.htm. Not the cheapest way to go, but it will pay off... as zandor says, if you go cheap you grow cheap... or something like that :thumbsup:

if its your first grow then id go with flouros man no need for fans or anything.. just go down to your local hardware store and buy 2 of those flouros holders (cant think of the word im high!) .. anyways get the ones that hold 2 tubes, and get the highest watt flouros you can get... and there ya go !! peace!!!

If you are looking for local stores that you can buy lights from go for Wal-Mart or any simliar store like that. Buy compact fluorescent lights, they are like $7-10 for a 42 watt bulb. I don't think there is any other cheaper site to buy HPS/MH lights from. The only downside to it is that you HAVE TO REWIRE THE LIGHTS YOUR SELF. But there is plenty of tutorials and guides on how to rewire it, its pretty simple. Hope you get what your looking for Peace
