Sounds like you're already well aware that this fight isn't for you. I'm not at all convinced that you would lose a case like this if you had the proof you needed. But if you don't have a complete paper trail, know they've made that money invisible, have let scoffs from Legal Aid deter you, and have a girlfriend with pre-existing anxiety troubles, then you're not in a position to pursue this. Anyone who wants to initiate legal action has to have a lot of determination, patience and mental stability. And it helps to have lots of money, too.
