Nasty Problem...Advice??
"5. Any ethical attorney will advise you to think long and hard about this whole idea before jumping into it and being set up for diappointment. You're going to be going up against people who have more financial resources and powerful connections than you two do. You'll need to plan on devoting at least two to three years of your life to a case like this. Possibly more. You're likely going to find that her parents took that $38K and the money they got from selling her house and liquidated much of it into cash so there'd be little proof of what they did. It'd be marvelous if they'd invested it in CDs and deposited it into bank accounts so it'd still be visible, but if they were sleazy and wily enough to steal it, they were probably wily enough to do it in a way that can't be easily traced."
"This is a long way of saying that knowing what they did and proving it may be two very different things. If you end up pursuing them legally, every step along the way will be difficult and ugly. Get ready for every detail of any criminal/drug history you two have to be brought out into the open. Get ready to fight dirtier than you've ever fought in your life. Get ready to do one of four things: win, lose, withdraw your action, or settle."
1And this is the problem in a nutshell.yes they hid the cash Very well so there is not much of a paper trail if any.
2.They also know the tax/property laws so well its sick!!
3.My GF Collects SSI for a Anxiety Disorder so she has had bumps with the law concering weed more than once.
4.they have an annual income that is high enough to hide this kind of money.
these people are so well connected here that not even Legal-Aid will touch this,as soon as we metion that Mrs.**** ***** is the one who did this all they just scoff it off.(we live in Kansas, read that as republican Hell)
"Dude this is what you've gotta do. get all your money together, hop in a car, and just leave. you two can live happily ever after in the woods of montana or something. doesnt that sound nice?"
Thank all of Ya'll for the advice,it helps(Birdgirl73) And Night Prowler... That may be very well what we do...Big Sur at sunset sounds SOOOOOO nice right about now!!!
All this over some buds...Weird, besides being angry this makes us even more determined to do all we can to get weed Legal! In my GF's life Buds were the only Meds that really worked,Prozac,Paxil,Zoloft aer WAY too addictive...Screw with yer emoitions...and make one not give a hoot, as my GF would say,"The Space Shuttle could fall on my house and it was all good" No it was not!!
Thanks again, It's Phat to know people DO really care about others even if they don't know them well:dance:The Figment Reviewed by The Figment on . Nasty Problem...Advice??
