That's good advice to see a doctor. Bloody phlegm isn't a good sign. You could have a bad infection like pneumonia or you could have tuberculosis, cancer, or just a burst blood vessel. People on blood thinners and people with heart valve disease or congestive heart failure sometimes cough up bloody phlegm, too. Hope and pray that it's simply bad irritation from too much smoking of a harsh substance.

Definitely lay off the smoking and get to the doc as soon as you can. Be honest with him about what you smoke and how much. He's not a cop, and he needs to know the full story. Expect them to send you for a chest X-ray first then work from there.
