Blood in flem

I coughed up some flem, and saw most of it was blood. Is this a sign of something very serious? Ever since I hurt my back, I been feeling sick in a way I can't explain, haven't been able to exercise or do much at all. Everytime I smoke weed, my entire chest aches. Without it, my back aches beyond the depths of hell. I'm gonna see a doctor, but is there anything I can do to alleviate all this pain?

well sounds like the grass is numbing the pain a medical use what its known for, personally i would quit smoking for know let your lungs recover a bit or just serously cut down on weed, then go see a docter and get him to check your back.
remember no heavy weights and try to sit with your back straight sonny!

Man that sucks. I hate when people really is in pain and has a problem and then has to pay to get it fixed. That sucks. I hope you get better man .

That's good advice to see a doctor. Bloody phlegm isn't a good sign. You could have a bad infection like pneumonia or you could have tuberculosis, cancer, or just a burst blood vessel. People on blood thinners and people with heart valve disease or congestive heart failure sometimes cough up bloody phlegm, too. Hope and pray that it's simply bad irritation from too much smoking of a harsh substance.

Definitely lay off the smoking and get to the doc as soon as you can. Be honest with him about what you smoke and how much. He's not a cop, and he needs to know the full story. Expect them to send you for a chest X-ray first then work from there.

Dopends on how much you've been coughing?

If it was after a very bad coughing fit its not unnormal to have burst a vessel, but if it was out of the blue it can mean many things as birdgirl said.

Go see a doctor though, i suffer from a bad back and i know how much it hurts..

You never know, they might give you some nice pain killers.

Thanks for the kind words all. Hopefully I'll start feeling better soon. He prescribed me some muscle relaxants, which is always nice.

I'll find out what I have after I get an x-ray done. The doc said I should stop smoking "ganja" because looking stoned is unattractive. lol

You say you hurt your back? Had a friend hurt his back, but what he *really* injured (and didn't know immediately) was his liver, and that made him cough up some blood. Seeing a doctor = very good idea. Well, seeing doctors sucks, but hey, it's still better than dying. Heh.
