penicillin is an antibiotic, people shouldn't take antibiotic unless they have an infection by bacteria. Each antibiotic has a spectrum(sp?) or range which kills certain bacteria but it rarely kills them all and besides, most of the bacteria we have do not cause disease but if you take an antibiotic like penicillin(oral for instance, though that's probably not what you have) you will kill the "indigenous" bacteria and if you're unlucky you can get an infection by one species of bacteria that wasn't killed. Bacteria compete with each other so taking antibiotics is no joke, it's a lot more serious than people think

ibuprofen is an anti-inflamatory drug with an analgesic effect. Like most drugs belonging to that group of antiinflam.s, ibuprofen shouldn't be taken recreationally because it can get you an ulcer.
