Flowering & Watering Questions

Is it true that once plants start flowering, that they need to be watered more often? When my plants were in veg I watered them on average of about twice a week even though the weather's been pretty hot. But I thought I read somewhere that when they flower, they drink more water.
Also, is it a good idea to give them a break for about a week before changing from veg nutes to flowering nutes? I've been using Foxfarm nutes for my plants. Thank you for any advice.

If you were growing inside I would say yes but out side all you should need is the equivilent of 1 inch of rain a week regaurdless of the heat. as far as your nutes you should not have to give your plants a break, just don't over ferterlize and stay on your feeding schedual. good luck dude.

it also depends on your soil type around your holes. I have alot of sand and we havent had rain in a month. We got 4" in 2 days and a week later my holes were dry on the Moisture meter. The sand wicks the water from my holes. I can water a spot and watch the water go down and down and down. I have to use h20 crystals also. Ive been irrigating mine every other day. But its been 104 with a heat index of 110 and lo humidity with a hot south breeze. I know this really doesnt answer your question but it gives you an idea on some of the factors you need to take into consideration.

The best thing you can do is pay close attention to your plant. Get to know your plant. Growing isn't quick so you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted!!! Know what it means when your leaves are droopy, perky, saggy, straight, curled, etc. You also have to realize higher temps/higher intensity light/higher winds will cause your soil to dry up. Inside you regulate the environment so those might not play a role. Outside in a container like what I'm doing, you have to pay attention to that stuff. Lately it's been 90-95 degrees farenheit here and we can't seem to shake it. It was 98 today!! When it gets into the 90s I check on her about 3 or 4 times a day and I usually give her 2 little drinks a day when it is 90+. The heat goes up, the water goes up. The heat and wind both go up, water goes up more. That's how I've been doing it and it's working out okay but every plant is different!!

Just read around and see what you can find out about reading your plant and pay attention to what it tells you and you'll be a-okay! :thumbsup:

Take the condition variations out of the equation a budding plant requires less water than a vegetive growing one.
