Advice for simple closet setup..?

How demanding are plants? I'm curious because I am wanting to start growing in my closet, but it needs to be as simple as possible...5 gallon bucket, fluorescent tubes, and that's about what I was wanting to keep it to...Incredibly cheap, and I'm not looking to grow some incredibly good bud, just something decent from sack bud that'll be some smoke to get me high when I might want to save some cash a few months a year. Would it be possible to grow it as basic as that?

yeah and maybe some bone and blood meal for fertz....and also you might want to get a ph tester....
